God’s Will be Done (2 Chronicles 25)

You will find the life of King Amaziah in 2 Chronicles 25. What struck me most is these verses:

7 But a man of God came to him and said, “Your Majesty, these troops from Israel must not march with you, for the Lord is not with Israel—not with any of the people of Ephraim. 8 Even if you go and fight courageously in battle, God will overthrow you before the enemy, for God has the power to help or to overthrow.”

He mustered thousands of his men to fight for battle. But a man of God came to him and told him that. I figured that things still mess up in the most perfect situations. And things turn out well even in the worst situations. Why? Because it is God’s will.

I never held a full time job for more than a year now. Late last year, we were really struggling financially and I felt like I needed to help my husband out and get a job that will help us make ends meet.

I was able to get an interview in one language school and advanced my application by taking an exam. The exam was so easy I thought I’d get a perfect score. When it was time for the next interview, the lady said I failed the exam. I gave her a puzzled look.

I failed???

I left the school devastated. The exam was super easy. I mean really. An 8-year-old can perfect the exam.

I remembered that incident while I was reading the message of that prophet to Amaziah. God has the power to do practically ANYTHING… God has the power to help or to overthrow. He has the power to make me pass that exam. And He too has the power to make me fail.

Looking back, I feel that it was best for me not to have that full time job. I got freelance jobs here and there. I had more time for our business. And I was able to focus on the book I was writing then. These were things I may not be able to do if I held a full time job.

In the end… God knows best! =) We are to pray and follow His will! His will be done in our lives!

Have you ever been in a seemingly perfect situation and suddenly it all went downward spiral? Or a very bad situation that somehow in the end, it still turned out to be the best thing?

Albert, I love this “God has the power to help or to overthrow.” Your thoughts here have been the story of my life the last two years – feeling pressured by situations in our lives, I’ve tried to take steps to “help us out”, but each time i meet firmly closed doors!
While those other days may look shut, the ministry and other things that God has called us to are growing steadily as i invest myself..cos i have the time :)
    Thanks for this encouragement today!
