Do you sometimes feel like a slave when doing the laundry, ironing clothes, washing the dishes, etc?
Photo Resource: Coffee Break Conversation
The other night, my heart just exploded unexpectedly. “I am a wife. I am not a slave. This is not what I signed up for.” I started pouring out my heart to my husband. I don’t know. I just got tired of doing household chores that it’s driving me insane.
Well, God knows exactly what I was feeling… Look at what God told me through our daily devotion.
When people serve others because they are forced to do so, they lose the freedom to serve genuinely. Serving our spouse is a way of practicing the teachings of Jesus. Jesus said that every time we serve one of His creatures, we are serving Him.
That last line sent me back to my senses. Right. Whenever I serve my husband, I am also serving the Lord. So the following day, I spent the entire morning doing the laundry and cleaning up the house – this time with a joyful spirit. I reminded myself that whatever I do, I am doing it unto the Lord!
Do you cheerfully do household chores?
PS: The result for the audition is out!! Out of 100+ entries, I made it to the TOP 10!!! There are 2 more elimination rounds before I finally get the lead role. God’s will be done. Please pray for my next VTR. I will keep you posted! =)

I definitely have problems with my attitude a lot of the time when it comes to those chores! It really helps that my husband helps out a lot! Even then, I still forget who I’m really working for sometimes!

Same here.. My husband has always been a great help in the house.. =) I praise God for that!
Congratulations on making it to the next round. How exciting!
As for the chores, I think we’ve all been there. When I find myself grumbling, I remember the words from a plaque that my friend hangs above her sink:
Thank God for dirty dishes
They have a tale to tell.
While other folks go hungry
We’re eating very well.
With home and health and happiness
We shouldn’t want to fuss.
For by this stack of evidence
God’s been good to us.
I also find it helpful whenever I start feeling overwhelmed to stop and thank God for ten things. And if I feel like my hubby isn’t pulling his weight, I stop and think of the many things he DOES do–they add up to be quite a lot. I finally remind myself that what I DESERVE is punishment in hell, which is a lot worse than all the chores I have to do. By God’s grace, I am saved from that punishment and He allows me to have many blessings. I deserve nothing, but have so much. When I start to remember how small I really am and how big God really is, my troubles start to look small too.
Good luck. You are not alone in this!
Wow~ Thanks! Thank you for this reminder.. I should get a copy of that poem hanging on my kitchen too. And I like the idea of 10 things to be thankful for.. Ah, you’re such a blessing! =) Thanks for this!
I have that same poem by my sink in the kitchen!

Haha.. See, I am not alone. But I thank God for changing my attitude towards it.. =)
Sometimes I do it cheerfully. Sometimes I stomp. The days of cheer are definitely happier. Thanks for the reminder.
Best wishes in the next round! Stopping by from SITS. Have a great day.
