Never a Waste

I always thought that there’s a reason for everything.

When we got engaged, we had agreed that it would not be a lavish wedding. We had a budget for every aspect and same goes with the wedding gown. I specifically prayed for the amount that I could afford. I wouldn’t go anywhere beyond that. And lo and behold! We found a couturier who gave us the exact amount I had prayed for! I was overjoyed!

And then I got the gown…

It wasn’t what I was expecting. It didn’t fit well even after numerous adjustments. I was really frustrated and told myself that I WILL NOT WEAR THAT GOWN!

After much thought, I considered wearing my sister’s gown she wore on her wedding. It fit me perfectly and I loved it! And that’s what I wore on my wedding.

What happened to my first gown? It was just lying inside its box.

2 years after during a retreat, I was having a conversation with a friend and she said they were looking for people who could donate wedding gowns for a mass wedding that would be held in a few weeks. I was thrilled! I said I had an unused gown I could give her. She was really happy!

Then 2 months after I hosted another mass wedding and one of the brides’ gown was very familiar. Oh, it was my first gown!

Looking back at that series of events, I realized that God does not waste any experience. For me 2 years ago, it was a waste of money to have a wedding gown made and not use it. But now, I realized that God had orchestrated that instance so I would be able to share that gown to other brides.

Isn’t God amazing???

That was really an amazing idea! Actually, most people are not like this, being resourceful and useful of things that can’t be used already..
