The Good Wife’s Guide Review

I love books especially books on womanhood and being a wife. I noticed that there are many books about motherhood but very few on being a godly wife, so when I got hold of Darlene Schacht’s book “The Good Wife’s Guide”, I knew that this book is what I’d been looking for!

“A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. ~ Proverbs 31:10″

There are two things I liked best in her book. From the very beginning, she set the right foundation. Her points were backed up by the Word of God which is the final authority. She inspired me that being a good and godly wife doesn’t mean being a perfect wife. She was first to admit that she isn’t perfect but there are many things to learn along the way. I also appreciated that she emphasized on joyfully serving the family. Cleaning the house, doing the laundry and the dishes are more than household chores. These are opportunities for wives to show love and joyfully serve their family.

The second thing I liked best was her practical solutions. I love the 2nd part of her book where she shared cleaning and organizing ideas. I am proud to say that I have been following her suggestions and my house is cleaner than ever. I also shared these with my husband and both of us are sharing responsibilities to maintain our home sweet home. =)

Over the years, we have acquired so many many MANY things in our home that to be honest we don’t really need. It is ridiculously too much that it’s just crowding our home. Darlene has this principle called “Toss Out 25 Things”. Come on, if you have not used something for the past year (or two), chances are… you won’t ever use them. Now get 25 things in your room that you don’t seem to need and throw or give it away. Simple right?

I would definitely recommend this book!

Sounds like a wonderful book. I will have to get it soon. My birthday is the day it comes out. Hmmmmm. Prayers for you as you minister to young women where you are. If you ever come through Tennessee in the US, let me know, since you LOVE traveling, maybe we will meet someday.

  4. Viviene, thank you so much for this awesome review and for sharing my links!! Woot. I’m in the process of updating the 31 Days of Love since the dates were all in reverse order. So thanks for mentioning that too! I’ll share this link with my facebook readers.

Is there any way I might convince you to paste a bit of this on Amazon? It’s an incredible review!

Wow Jody, I appreciate the invitation. I’m not sure I’d ever go to Tennessee. I don’t have folks there but if by any chance God brings me there, I’d surely visit you!! And if you ever come to Asia and visit the Philippines, I’d be glad to meet you up!

Where did you buy the book? Jealous on your “related post” plug-in, mine seems can’t get the icon working…

  8. Viviene says:

The Linkwithin plugin is only available for self-hosted wordpress.. but I think wordpress has an automatic “related post” at the end of each post if I remember it right.

The book is available at amazon but the ebook is cheaper.. $4plus but I think there’s a discount now.. Check her blog.. =D
