I love books especially books on womanhood and being a wife. I noticed that there are many books about motherhood but very few on being a godly wife, so when I got hold of Darlene Schacht’s book “The Good Wife’s Guide”, I knew that this book is what I’d been looking for!
“A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. ~ Proverbs 31:10″
There are two things I liked best in her book. From the very beginning, she set the right foundation. Her points were backed up by the Word of God which is the final authority. She inspired me that being a good and godly wife doesn’t mean being a perfect wife. She was first to admit that she isn’t perfect but there are many things to learn along the way. I also appreciated that she emphasized on joyfully serving the family. Cleaning the house, doing the laundry and the dishes are more than household chores. These are opportunities for wives to show love and joyfully serve their family.
The second thing I liked best was her practical solutions. I love the 2nd part of her book where she shared cleaning and organizing ideas. I am proud to say that I have been following her suggestions and my house is cleaner than ever. I also shared these with my husband and both of us are sharing responsibilities to maintain our home sweet home. =)
Over the years, we have acquired so many many MANY things in our home that to be honest we don’t really need. It is ridiculously too much that it’s just crowding our home. Darlene has this principle called “Toss Out 25 Things”. Come on, if you have not used something for the past year (or two), chances are… you won’t ever use them. Now get 25 things in your room that you don’t seem to need and throw or give it away. Simple right?
I would definitely recommend this book!
