Little Girl Lost by Barbie Probert-Wright

A powerful true story of surviving the unimaginable.

In 1945, seven-year-old Barbie and her sister Eva, aged nineteen, were trapped and terrified in war-torn Germany. They were separated from their family and their only hope was to reunite with their mother who was hundreds of miles away. With Eva’s desperate desire to be with her mother, Barbie joined Eva on a journey no child should ever have to endure. They encountered unimaginable hardship, extraordinary courage and overwhelming generosity.

Two sisters. A broken childhood. A heartbreaking journey.

I’ve never been a fan of history but I was drawn to this book because of these two girls’ inspiring story of perseverance and determination. I was not disapppointed.

There are two things I learned from their story:

1. Every cloud has a silver lining. With the hardship they have endured, I can’t imagine Eva would still turn every experience they had into positive. I don’t know how she managed to do it but she was definitely something!

2. Persevere and reach your goal. Their journey was TOTAL hardship but no matter what happened, they just kept looking at their goal (seeing their mother) and that is what kept them going.

I am left inspired after reading the book!

What are some books that gave you so much inspiration?

Thanks for sharing Viene, should get this book then. On more inspirational books, try Never The Last Journey by Dr. Felix Zandman, old book had it over 5 yrs ago which my Dad bought. Very inspirational, moving; also about WWII hardship and the author (the survivor) turned out to be successful and eventually a CEO in one of Fortune 500 companies.

Perhaps Japanese likes this story because one of our characters is patience.

  3. Sounds like a great book… Will take a look when I catch my breath. Hope you’ve recovered from your last trip. :-)
